Rome Business School
Inspiring international master's students to discover their futures in finance
London has historically been a global hub of banking and finance, and its reputation for trendsetting fintech and digital disruption continues to grow. So, when Rome Business School was looking for a London-based academic partner for its Finance Bootcamp, Bayes Business School was the obvious choice, given its reputation for finance and location at the heart of the City. Working with Bayes’ Executive Education team, together they developed a truly immersive experience which explored the latest trends, strategies and technologies at play today in the global finance sector.
A transformative experience
Bayes hosted multiple cohorts of Rome Business School students keen to gain an insight into the latest trends shaping the future of the banking and finance industries. The students explored topics from fintech to financial crisis management through a combination of lectures, industry visits and collaborative group projects. During a week-long immersive bootcamp they covered:
- New and old challenges in banking, exploring the forces of change
- Financial innovation and the fintech revolution
- Banking regulation and risk
- Banking crises and failures, brought to life through real-world case studies.
Professor Barbara Casu, Professor of Banking and Finance and Deputy Dean, Faculty and Research at Bayes Business School was the Academic Director for the bootcamps.
“Bayes location at the heart of London’s global financial hub offers a unique and transformative educational experience to students. The bootcamps run with Rome Business School gave a rare insight into the dynamic field of banking and finance, during a week designed to be both inspiring and career-shaping.”
Alongside lectures, students worked together on collaborative group projects to apply their learning, before delivering presentations at the end of the week.
First-hand industry insight
A particular highlight of the programme was the opportunity for industry visits, which offer unparalleled insights into the cutting-edge trends shaping the future of the sector. Students visited institutions such as Canary Wharf-based incubator Level 39, hearing directly from start-up pioneers in the fields of finance, cyber security, data and AI. They also visited the renowned Lloyd’s of London, and took part in a cultural walking tour focused on the history of finance and insurance in the City, starting at Leadenhall Market and ending at the London Stock Exchange.
Attracting an international audience
Bootcamp participants were drawn from Rome Business School’s MBA and MSc programmes, which attract students from all over the world. Past bootcamps have welcomed students from Italy, Finland, Germany, Spain, Chile, El Salvador, Bangladesh, Tunisia and India.
Feedback from previous attendees includes:
It was an amazing experience – the class level and content were really good quality and I am so happy to have had the chance to join the bootcamp.
The London bootcamp was incredibly interesting, and the level of the lectures was perfectly pitched for someone without a finance and banking background. The professors were excellent and engaging.
This was a highlight of my MBA at Rome Business School! The Bayes staff were exceptional.
I am impressed by the support we have had this week. It was an awesome experience, which I found very inspiring for my career.
