What makes the careers accelerator module unique?

The online Career Accelerator module is released over the Summer, offering early access to career planning resources and employer insights before you even begin your Bayes MSc experience.

Drawing on expertise from our Bayes Postgraduate Careers Team, it explores in-depth industry insights and tips for ensuring you are able to put your best foot forward when engaging with employers, creating your CV and preparing for interviews.

Key areas of the module

Industry insights

In this area of the module, we explore each of the main sectors across our master’s programme offering insights, current trends and information about main companies operating within each industry. We also share insights from past Bayes graduates who are now working in industry to outline their career journey so far and their advice for navigating that particular sector.

Engaging with employers

During your Bayes master’s degree, you will have multiple opportunities to engage with industry experts and your potential future employers. Therefore, it’s important you feel confident to navigate these events and expand your network during your time with us. In this section of the Career Accelerator module, we share information about each of the key events across the year where you will have an opportunity to engage with employers and industry professionals.

Job search strategy

Securing a role after graduating in a competitive market can be challenging, so it is important to feel prepared and understand how to implement an effective strategy. This area of the module will explore how to utilise various research methods to your search, the wide range of recruitment methods used by different organisations and also how you can leverage generative AI at different stages within your job search.

Creating a CV

This area will cover how to structure your CV and how to make a strong first impression. It will also share information on our virtual CV masterclass run by the Bayes Postgraduate Careers team, offering more advice and tips on how to make your CV stand out from the crowd.

Networking

30-40% of our postgraduates in the early stages of their career mention they secured a new job through some form of networking. Therefore, it is really important that this is an activity you are comfortable and confident in for your time at Bayes. During this section, the module will cover the importance of networking, how to identify contacts and approach them and how to make an impact.

Overall, the Career Accelerator module is just one of the ways in which you will enhance your employability skills as a Bayes master’s student. The module explores a number of key areas related to employability and your career journey and allows you to study online at your own pace and return to sections when you need to refresh your knowledge.
