A part-time MBA that works around your life

Discover how Bayes Business School’s flexible MBA formats — Evening, Modular, and Online — are designed to fit around your life, helping you advance your career without putting everything else on hold.

An MBA is one of the most significant investments you can make in your career, but life rarely pauses to accommodate it.

At Bayes Business School, our students are not just ambitious professionals; they are parents, carers, commuters, and entrepreneurs navigating everything that a busy life demands. That is why flexibility is built into the DNA of our programmes.

Whether you are weighing up the Evening Executive MBA, the Modular Executive MBA, or the Global MBA (Online), each format is designed so you do not have to choose between your ambitions and your commitments.

Here, current students and alumni share why they chose the format that was right for them.

The evening format

For professionals based in London, the Evening Executive MBA offers the rhythm of regular, twice-weekly contact with classmates and faculty — without requiring time away from the office during the day. Its Tuesday and Thursday evening schedule is designed to fit neatly around a full-time City career.

Rachel Knox, a Treasury Dealer with over ten years in banking, joined knowing it was the right fit, then discovered she was pregnant three months in. Rather than step back, she leaned in:

An Executive MBA felt like the natural next step in my career. Many of my friends had moved out of London and started families, but I wasn’t ready to let my ambitions fade. Bayes was the perfect fit. Its central London location and flexible part-time structure made it possible to study without sacrificing my career. Evening classes complemented my full-time role perfectly.

The weekend format

For those who cannot commit to twice-weekly evenings, the Modular Executive MBA offers one focused Friday-to-Sunday block every month — immersive, structured, and designed to fit around demanding careers and travel schedules.

Rishi Kumar, based in the UK, describes why it works:

The modular format really helps to balance work, life, and study. That one long weekend every month is surprisingly manageable and easy to plan around. It’s such an immersive way of learning! You can really dive deep into the modules over that extended weekend. It also gives you a chance to spend quality time with the cohort, especially those who have travelled from all over the world to be here.

— Rishi Kumar, CX Specialist, Worldline │ Modular Executive MBA student, 2027

The programme also attracts professionals from across the globe. Yoshihiro Yamaguchi travels from Tokyo each month, using travel time to support his studies.

The Modular Executive MBA format was ideal for me. I’m experienced in business and don’t need a full-time MBA. Instead, I wanted to refine my knowledge and focus on specific areas. The Modular Executive MBA offers flexibility while allowing me to continue my professional career seamlessly. The time zone differences and long flights allow me to use non-business hours for studying and discussions with my cohort.

— Yoshihiro Yamaguchi, Senior Manager, PwC Consulting │ Modular Executive MBA student, 2027

The online format

For professionals whose roles or locations make regular campus attendance difficult, the Global MBA (Online) provides the flexibility to study from anywhere in the world while remaining connected to faculty and classmates.

Jose Puyana enrolled during a significant career transition and needed a format that could adapt to an increasingly international role.

I needed something that would allow me to combine family commitments and a demanding full-time job with an equally demanding MBA. At the time I enrolled I was transitioning into a regional role requiring travel across Europe each month. The fact that teaching is online provided the flexibility I needed — and it was so well-structured that it almost felt as if we were doing it in a classroom.

— Jose Puyana, Director of Trade & Growth, Transform │ Global MBA (Online), 2023

Dhwanika Patel, who studied the Global MBA (Online) from the United States, found the same sense of connection and support despite studying remotely.

Bayes professors and peers were very supportive in terms of meeting flexibility and study sessions, and I never felt disconnected by not being on campus.

— Dhwanika Patel, Manager (Business Transformation), EY │ Global MBA, 2022

Balancing ambition with real life

Balancing an MBA alongside a career and personal commitments is rewarding, but it is not always straightforward.

At Bayes, we recognise that careers evolve and life circumstances can change unexpectedly. Promotions, relocations, family responsibilities, and new opportunities can all affect a student’s ability to study.

David Aobadia, Evening Executive MBA alumnus and co-founder of two boutique consultancies, reflects honestly on the experience:

Balancing a full-time job, personal life and an executive MBA is a roller coaster of highs and lows. For me and many fellow students, the study groups were one thing that made it easier to handle the pressure.

— David Aobadia, Director of Marketing Services, Menzies LLP Evening Executive MBA, 2017

For Maximilian Frueh, increasing responsibilities within his family business meant stepping away from the programme temporarily. He ultimately completed his Evening Executive MBA over five years.

It wasn’t an easy choice, as I was highly motivated to complete the programme — but I had no other option than to prioritise my career at that moment. What really stood out to me was how supportive and understanding the Bayes team was throughout this process. From the very beginning, they treated my situation with empathy and flexibility, making it clear that stepping away didn’t mean the end of my journey.

— Maximilian Frueh │ Evening Executive MBA, 2026

Supported every step of the way

Flexibility at Bayes is not just about scheduling, it is about the community that surrounds you. From programme coordinators and academic faculty to a cohort of peers who understand exactly what it means to juggle work, study, and life, students consistently describe a community that holds them up when things get hard.

When Maximilian was ready to return, he found continued support waiting for him.

Even after a longer break, I felt genuinely welcomed back. In fact, the initial contact about my return even came from the Business School — the Course Office regularly reached out to me via email to stay in touch and support my reintegration. The team was incredibly helpful in finding solutions and guiding me through the process. Their proactive support and willingness to find individual solutions made a huge difference and ultimately enabled me to complete the programme successfully.

Looking back, his advice to prospective students is simple:

Don’t be afraid to prioritise what matters most in the moment. Taking a step back doesn’t mean you’re giving up — it can actually be the best way to come back stronger and finish successfully. Without the programme’s flexibility, it would not have been possible for me to complete my MBA. Completing it after five years feels especially rewarding, as it reflects persistence, resilience, and the strong support system behind me.

Rachel Knox reflects on what carried her through her EMBA while welcoming a new baby:

Looking back now, I realise that pursuing an EMBA while welcoming a baby isn’t just possible, it can be deeply transformative experience. Whether or not you have children, everyone struggles at some point. Lean on your community; you don’t have to do it alone. Bayes’ flexible programme, strong community and culture of support make it possible for women to thrive both academically and personally.
