Undergraduate admissions FAQ
This page provides answers to common questions from undergraduate applicants, helping you understand the application process, requirements, and key information you need to apply.
How do I apply?
All applications are made through UCAS. When applying to Bayes Business School, you must apply to City, St George's, University of London. The institution code is C60. Please refer to the UCAS application deadlines.
Can I apply after the UCAS Equal Consideration Deadline?
It is encouraged to submit your application by the deadline so as to maximise your chances of being considered for a place.
We will consider applications submitted after the UCAS deadline subject to places being available. The UCAS website will list the course if it is still open to applications.
Do you accept resits?
We welcome applications from candidates who have elected to resit their academic qualifications (such as A Levels), and such candidates are not competitively disadvantaged in any way.
Do you accept transfers?
We do not accept credit transfers or applications for direct entry into Year 2 or Year 3. All applicants must apply for Year 1 entry only, regardless of any prior study completed at another university.
Does Bayes conduct interviews?
No. Bayes Business School does not conduct interviews or short discussions for undergraduate programmes.
Our decisions as to whether to offer a place is based solely on the information provided as part of the electronic UCAS application.
My predicted grades are lower than the requirement. Can I still apply?
We review applications holistically and may consider predicted grades below our stated entry requirement provided that core course requirements (such as GCSE for example) have been met.
However, we cannot confirm the likelihood of receiving an offer until an application has been submitted and assessed.
My GCSE Mathematics grade is lower than grade required published on the course page. Can I still apply?
The minimum GCSE requirements must be met. There is no flexibility, and contextual offers are not applied for GCSE Maths or English.
Which English-language qualifications do you accept?
Applicants must meet the English-language requirement for their chosen programme. Please refer to the individual course page (Entry requirements- English language requirements section) for accepted qualifications and required scores.
Do you accept native languages as an A-level subject?
We accept all foreign language A-level subjects, and such subjects are considered for entry even if it is the applicant’s native language.
Subject requirements for the course of interest must still be met- please ensure that you have checked the entry requirements section on the individual course page of interest.
Do you accept Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)?
We recognise that the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) may prove beneficial in helping applicants develop skills relevant for undergraduate study. We will not however include the EPQ as an offer condition or accept it in place of an A Level (or equivalent) subject.
Can I apply for more than one Bayes/City St George’s course?
You are welcome to apply to more than one City St George's or Bayes course. We also recognise that applicants may apply to different courses and subsequently struggle to write a personal statement relevant to all of their course choices.
We are happy to accept an additional personal statement relevant to the Bayes course to which you have applied. You can provide this to us as a PDF document emailed to us at bayesug@citystgeorges.ac.uk.
Please include your UCAS Personal ID number in your email so that we can attach the statement to your application.
What should I include in my personal statement?
Admissions officers, not tutors, read personal statements. You should focus on your motivation for studying the course and your academic interests.
Applicants are encouraged to consult UCAS guidance for further support.
Where can I find information about scholarships and bursaries?
Scholarships and bursaries information is available on the City St George's funding webpage.
I’ve submitted my application, what happens next?
After you submit your application, decisions will be communicated through UCAS. For a detailed explanation of the next steps, see our Undergraduate information webpage.
I’ve received an offer! What happens next?
Congratulations on your offer! Please see steps outlined in detail on our After you have received an offer to study with us section.
I’m an international student- how and when will I receive my CAS?
CAS statements for undergraduate students commencing a programme in September will typically be issued from June onwards of that year. You must be holding an unconditional offer to study with us before the CAS can be issued.
Once conditions have been met, you will be emailed with further information on the tasks that you need to complete in order to receive your CAS- it’s important that you keep an eye on both your inbox and junk folders during this period.
Further information on the CAS issuing and student visa requirements can be found by visiting our Student Visa webpage.
Can I defer my place?
Yes. Applicants may request to defer for one academic year. Approval is subject to programme availability.
What happens if I don’t meet the conditions of my offer?
We will need to review the final results obtained before a decision can made on your application.
Eligible applicants may receive a change of course offer to our foundation year and this will be communicated to you via email. Please note that these decisions will be final.
Do you consider extenuating or mitigating circumstances?
We understand that applicants may experience unexpected circumstances beyond their control, such as ill health, bereavement, or adverse domestic situations.
While we sympathise with any applicant undergoing a difficult period, the Undergraduate Admissions Team does not take mitigating or extenuating circumstances into account when reviewing applications or examination results.
If you experience circumstances that may impact your performance before or during the examination period, you should submit evidence to your school or college, who will forward it to the relevant examination board.
