Dr Roar Adland, Global Head of Research, SSY
With over twenty years of professional experience in shipping market analysis, freight derivatives trading and applied research, Dr. Roar Adland has built a reputation as one of the most outspoken shipping experts in the world today. Beginning his career as protégé of Dr. Martin Stopford at Clarkson Research, he has since been portfolio manager of freight derivatives at Clarkson Fund Management and chair professor of shipping at the Norwegian School of Economics before taking up the Global Head of Research position at shipbroker Simpson Spence Young (SSY) in May 2023.
Having gained a Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Adland is widely regarded for his unique combination of technical knowledge and commercial insight and has built up a substantial following on social media.
