Overview
Diogo Koch Alves is a postdoctoral Presidential Fellow at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), where he is affiliated with the Marketing group. His research interests are in the domains of consumer behaviour, psychology of technology use, and social decision making.
He holds a PhD in Marketing from Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY), an MA in Social & Consumer Psychology from New York University, an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University, and a BA in Psychology & Economics from New York University. Before joining academia, Diogo worked in account management at VML New York (then known as J. Walter Thompson), one of WPP's marquee global marketing communications agencies.
Diogo’s research explores topics such as the impact of smartphones on decision making, the role of voice-based interactions in consumer choice, and the influence of AI on consumer preferences. Through his work, he aims to uncover new insights that inform both theory and practice in the digital age. His research has been presented at conferences such as the European Marketing Academy (EMAC) and the Association for Consumer Research (ACR). During his PhD, Diogo's work was recognized with several honors and grants, including the Banerjee Babu Research Grant, the Mills Tannenbaum Research Excellence Award, and the Donald Vredenburgh Research Grant. Diogo was also selected as an American Marketing Association - Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium Fellow.
At Bayes, Diogo teaches Technology and Marketing in the MSc program. He has previously taught Marketing Foundations and Business Fundamentals at the undergraduate level at Baruch College, CUNY.
