He is the Director of Academic Research at the Centre for Financial Analysis and Reporting Research (CeFARR). Dr Jung is also a Representative Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
Dr Jay Jung's research focuses on financial analysts and capital markets. His work has been published in top peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Accounting and Economics and featured in prestigious news outlets such as Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, Le Monde, and NBC News Radio across USA, UK, Europe, and Asia. His research papers have been presented at more than 30 international conferences and 40 university seminars around the world.
Dr Jung is an ad hoc Associate Editor of British Accounting Review and sits on the Editorial Boards of British Accounting Review and European Accounting Review. He also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for top peer reviewed journals, such as Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, and Management Science. Dr Jung has taught in Executive MBA (Dubai, UAE), MBA, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. He is an External Examiner for the accounting program at London School of Economics (LSE).
In 2019, Dr Jung co-organized the CeFARR Accounting Conference on the theme of new trends in sell-side analyst research, with a special focus on MiFID II directives. The conference featured editors of top accounting journals (i.e., TAR, CAR), finance practitioners from equity research firms and investment banks, journalists, and members of the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority. More recently, in 2024, he co-organized the 5th Analyst Research Conference, featuring academics from across the world (e.g., University of Chicago, Bocconi, and LBS) and practitioners, including the Head of UBS Equity Research and founders/CEOs/heads of various equity research firms in the City of London.
Dr Jung has held visiting positions at Boston College, DePaul University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and University of Texas at Austin.
In his free time, Dr Jung enjoys exercising. He is the founding member of the first bodybuilding club, LINE, at KAIST, his alma mater for his undergraduate studies. He is a two-time ENGLISH OPEN champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (in both Gi and No-Gi; UKBJJA's highest ranked competition). Combining his hobby with the joy of being an educator, he often teaches BJJ to elementary school children in London through a non-profit charity program.
