About
Overview
Jörg M. Ries is a Reader in Operations Management at Bayes Business School. He is also a member of the Digital Leadership Research Centre at Bayes Business School and the Data Science Institute at City, University of London. Prior to joining Bayes, Jörg was a visiting research fellow at the Cranfield School of Management and a research assistant at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he completed his PhD. He has also worked as a supply chain consultant in the automotive, chemical and industrial construction industries.
Applying business analytics, Jörg's research explores the impact of structural characteristics and digital technologies on supply chain performance, risk and innovation. These include structural and organisational conditions for innovation, the role of advanced digital technologies in smart supply chains, process optimisation through supply chain finance and sustainable inventory management. He has published on these topics in leading international journals such as Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Omega and others.
Jörg has led several research and industry projects, collaborated with industry partners in the development of business analytics applications, and advised a range of companies in the process, manufacturing and transport industries.
