About
Overview
Senem Aydin Ozden is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Strategy at Bayes Business School. She has joined the faculty of Bayes in 2019. Before joining Bayes, she worked as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and an MBA from Middle East Technical University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Management from Bocconi University with a major in Strategy and a minor in Technology and Innovation Management fields.
Her research interests fall into two main streams. In the first stream, stemming from her dissertation, she studies the phenomenon of inter-organizational technology transfer to gain new insights into its contingencies and impediments. She examines this phenomenon in diverse contexts, i.e. markets for technology and market for firms, and explores the factors influential at institutional, dyadic, and technological levels. Her research won the Best Student Paper Award from the Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) Division of the Academy of Management in 2016, was nominated by the TIM Division for the William H. Newman Award for Best Paper Based on a Dissertation, and appeared in the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings (2016). This research was published in the Strategic Management Journal. In the second stream of research, she studies the competitive dynamics in nascent platform ecosystems with the emergent smart home market as the empirical setting. This research borrows from industry evolution to investigate the new phenomenon of traditional industries being transformed by the emergence of platforms. Specifically, her research focuses on the strategic and performance implications that the emerging platform-mediated markets have for both the pre-platform incumbents and new entrants. This work was published in the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings (2019).
At Bayes, Senem is teaching the Business Strategy Analysis module at the BSc level as well as the Advanced Strategy Analysis Module at the MSc level. She is also involved in teaching the Technology and Innovation Management Module at the Ph.D. level. She has been affiliated with the Academy of Management (since 2014), Strategic Management Society (since 2013) and Danish Research Unit for Industrial Dynamics - DRUID - (since 2014). She has also been an ad-hoc reviewer for several journals (e.g. Strategic Management Journal, Research Policy, Information Systems Research).
