Overview

Dr Sotirios Kokkinos is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting and Finance at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), City St George's, University of London, where he has been a member of the faculty since September 2022. He is the Academic Course Director of the Foundation Programme (Business, Finance and Accounting pathway), a Member of the Bayes Research Ethics Committee, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).

Sotirios holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Glasgow, where he also completed an MSc in International Accounting and Financial Management. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Financial and Banking Management from the University of Piraeus, Greece. Prior to joining academia, he gained valuable industry experience at leading financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley and the National Bank of Greece.

His research focuses on financial reporting, auditing, corporate governance, and accounting regulation, with a particular emphasis on their implications for capital market participants, including investors, creditors, and other stakeholders. His work has been presented at leading international conferences and submited for review in internationally recognised academic journals.

Sotirios teaches a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in financial accounting, managerial accounting, financial statement analysis, and corporate finance. His teaching philosophy combines academic rigour with practical relevance, drawing on both his research and professional experience to enhance student learning.
