The Faculty of Finance at Bayes welcomes PhD students from around the globe to study in the world’s leading capital city for finance.
Consisting of over 50 world-leading scholars, we offer a dynamic, stimulating and rigorous environment for students wanting to conduct high-quality finance research.

Creating the academic leaders of tomorrow
Usually running across four years, the PhD Finance Programme:
- Offers comprehensive training in research theory and methods
- Develops specific skills such as academic writing and conference presentation
- Supports students to commence research and defend papers
- Prepares students to defend their final thesis in the viva voce exam
- Introduces students to the academic job market, with workshops on how to review and publish papers
- Encourages students as they plot their graduate career path.
A thriving research community
We offer a variety of development opportunities including:
- Finance Research Days – a yearly workshop where Bayes Finance PhD students present their research to their peers and Faculty
- Reading groups in different subject areas, allowing students to deep dive into current research papers
- Finance seminars, research workshops and regular PhD training sessions with prestigious seminar speakers.
