About
Overview
Akane Vallery Uchida is a PhD Candidate in Entrepreneurship at Bayes Business School exploring the intersection of artist, entrepreneurship and identity.
Alongside her PhD, she is also completing a PG Diploma in Academic Practice at City University. She holds an MBA Finance with Distinction from Bayes (formerly Cass). She also holds an MA Finance (Economic Policy) from CeFiMS SOAS, University of London, an MA Creative Writing from City, University of London and a BSc Mathematics with Modern Languages (French, Spanish and Chinese).
As part of her MBA, Akane looked at digitalisation in the publishing industry and the impact it has on the content creator, the author. This sparked her interest further into researching artistic identity and how creative individuals navigate the tension between art and commerce as they decide to make a living out of their art.
Before her PhD studies, Akane worked in finance for over 13 years in Tokyo and London in a variety of roles but mostly covering foreign exchange markets facing institutional and corporate clients. With this experience, she also has a keen interest in financial technology and developments that lead to the democratisation of investments. She's a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst.
