About
Overview
Anand Shekhar is a PhD candidate in Finance at Bayes Business School, City St. George's University of London. His research lies at the intersection of corporate finance, banking, and financial regulation, with a particular focus on directed credit programs, market-based regulatory mechanisms, and firm outcomes. His work examines how financial policies shape credit allocation, firm behavior, and real economic activity, using quasi-experimental empirical designs. Anand’s current research includes studies on tradable credit mandates in India’s Priority Sector Lending program, the real effects of voluntary delistings among European firms, and the implications of majority shareholder share pledging for managerial risk-taking. Prior to his doctoral studies, he was Head of Research & Development at the Centre for Analytical Finance at the Indian School of Business. Anand holds an MBA-equivalent degree from the Indian School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from BITS Pilani, and he is a recipient of the J.N. Tata Scholarship.
