Confident leadership: Nurturing leaders for the future

Confident leadership isn’t just about knowing what to do but it’s knowing when and how to act. In today’s ever-changing world, leadership requires adaptability, clarity, and self-assuredness.

The Centre for Charity Effectiveness (CCE) at Bayes Business School has developed the Confident Leadership programme, helping you to articulate what the future will look like for you and your organisation. Through this focused, online programme you will be challenged to push your thinking, turn leadership theory into actionable practice, and engage in conversations that shape how you lead within your organisation.

What is the Confident Leadership Programme?

This is a highly practical programme, tailored to nurturing confident leaders to handle the challenges of tomorrow. By the end of the programme, you will feed prepared to respond with composed, thoughtful action during moments of uncertainty.

The Confident Leadership Programme offers a thoughtful mix of insight and interaction that encourages you to reflect deeply while building practical tools. The steady pace of sessions allows participants time to apply learning in real time and then return to refine and deepen their understanding.

The group we form to work with over the course of the programme is what will set this programme apart.  We’ll be creating a community of sector peers who can not only develop their own leadership but by coming together impact the leadership capability in the wider sector with a focus on current and future challenges we anticipate.

After almost 20 years of working in leadership development, I still love my work – not least because I vividly remember how it feels to sit in the participant chair.

My belief is that anything that makes leadership easier and reduces self-doubt should be shouted from the rooftops and not be kept a secret!  Seeing people gain more confidence in their leadership abilities and get intentional about how they can be even better inspires hope that collectively, we’ll be ok.

Our world of work is far from perfect, but when we focus on upping our leadership capabilities, we make it better for everyone and make as much positive difference as possible.

What does a confident leader look like to you?

Confident leadership to me looks like leaders being ‘their best selves’ and confident in their personal leadership style. They’re appropriately confident in their own abilities and don’t allow either arrogance, over-confidence or fear to stop them turning up and doing the best they can do, be the best they can be and get the best from others and for their organisations.

It doesn’t mean having all the answers, it means having the confidence not to pretend but to be willing to try new things and helping others shine.
