Bayes courses record sharp rise in The Guardian University Guide 2025

Business School degrees rated highly by annual student experience ranking.

Accounting and finance undergraduate courses at Bayes Business School have recorded an impressive rise of 15 places in The Guardian University Guide 2025.

According to the latest annual publication, programmes such as BSc Accounting & Finance, BSc Banking & International Finance, and BSc Finance with Actuarial Science at Bayes have climbed from 29th position 12 months ago to 14th in this year’s guide, and up to 3rd in London.

  • Marketing and Public Relations: 3rd in the UK, 1st in London
  • Accounting and Finance: 14th in the UK, 3rd in London
  • Business and Management: 24th in the UK, 4th in London

Alongside the improvement in accounting and finance, marketing programmes have maintained top spot in London, while ranking 3rd in the UK. Business and management programmes, meanwhile, were named as the 24th best in the UK – keeping 4th place in the capital from 12 months ago.

The annual publication ranks universities using eight different metrics, which are aggregated to deliver a total score out of 100. The measure includes what students say about their teaching and feedback in the annual National Student Survey (NSS), combined with more objective measures such as student to staff ratio and spend per student. It is clearly recognised among prospective entrants as a definitive point of information, rating student experience across different subject areas in 122 universities.

Bayes’ strong showing follows success in the NSS early this summer, where finance programmes were ranked in the UK top 10 for undergraduate experience.

Professor Richard Payne, Deputy Dean for Programmes at Bayes, said:

“We are proud of the upward trajectory in performance of our undergraduate programmes in accounting and finance at Bayes, as demonstrated most recently  in the Guardian rankings.

“It is also great to see continued recognition of excellence for our marketing programme and a strong showing for our business management courses. Together, the results reflect high levels of student satisfaction across our undergraduate programmes.

“The results reflect the outstanding collective efforts of our academic and professional colleagues who deliver the undergraduate programmes. Following on from our strong National Student Survey results, this latest set of rankings further underlines our commitment to student experience being at the heart of what we do.”

Performance of Bayes Business School programmes can be found under City, University of London’s entry in the ‘Accounting & Finance’, ‘Marketing & PR’, and ‘Business & Management’ sections of The Guardian University Guide 2025.

City formally merged with St George’s, University of London in August 2024, creating City St George’s, University of London, a powerful multi-faculty institution with a distinctive focus on professional education and research at the frontier of practice.

This league table lists City and St George’s separately, and the same approach will be taken by tables published until spring 2025, when UCAS will list the combined University as a single institution.
