AI and Design Thinking for Innovation

Example programme overview

This programme provides participants with essential knowledge about design thinking, creative thinking techniques and creative AI technologies to enable them to innovate more regularly and effectively.

Introducing a design thinking approach enables businesses to be more creative-on-demand and innovate more effectively in increasingly competitive markets. In addition, new generative AI tools such as ChatGPT have revealed the potential of AI to enhance creative thinking in businesses.

This programme will introduce and provide hands-on access to new creative AI technologies developed at Bayes for use in business (e.g. Business Sparks, DesignSparks), and provide expert guidance for their introduction into design thinking processes.

Who is the programme for?

Organisations across all sectors who want to innovate more effectively and regularly and are motivated to transform their businesses to become more design-led.

It is particularly beneficial for executives, senior managers and their teams from product and service-focused organisations seeking practical guidance and tools to embed AI technologies that empower employees to generate new ideas and be creative on-demand.

How will you learn?

We recommend that the programme is delivered across three whole days, each separated by three or four weeks. This is a highly experiential programme that blends theory and practice to enable participants to sustain their learning and transfer it back to the workplace.

It includes a mix of short lectures, facilitated group discussions and practical team exercises using different processes, techniques and digital tools, with reflection sessions to encourage participants to learn by reflecting on their use of these practices. Each afternoon session is structured around a hands-on design sprint to encourage and enable experiential learning.

Lectures comprise no more than 25% of the programme to maximise time for experiential learning through the practical exercises and group reflection sessions. Feedback will be provided in a variety of ways throughout the programme through design critiquing and deliberate reflective learning sessions embedded into the overall design process and programme structure.
