My story begins in Italy, in the heart of Sicily, where I was raised in a family that instilled in me the values of equality and respect for every individual. From a young age, I was encouraged to explore my passions and pursue my dreams. I made the decision to move to Milan, a city that pulsated with ambition and creativity. It was there that I first tasted the dynamic world of finance, but I knew that my aspirations stretched far beyond the borders of Italy.

With a heart full of determination, I relocated to London, a global financial hub that promised both opportunities and challenges. Like many newcomers, I faced obstacles that pushed me out of my comfort zone—navigating a new culture and language, building a professional network from scratch, and adapting to a fast-paced environment.

Each challenge I encountered only strengthened my resolve and honed my skills as I learned to lead diverse teams and thrive in high-pressure situations.

Today, I proudly work as a Bank Manager at Lloyds Bank, where I find immense joy in inspiring and supporting my colleagues and clients alike. My role allows me to lead with purpose, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. I believe that true leadership is about uplifting others and fostering a sense of community, and this philosophy guides me every day.

A transformative experience

My journey has been enriched by my decision to pursue the Executive MBA, a transformative experience that has connected me with remarkable individuals from various backgrounds.

After conducting extensive research, I chose to apply to Bayes Business School, a decision driven by its reputation as one of the best business schools in the UK and by the unique learning environment that encourages collaboration and challenges us to step outside our comfort zones.

What truly sets Bayes apart is the recognition that students are valued as individuals. The relationships between alumni and faculty members are nurturing and supportive, fostering a community where personal connections matter. This distinctive culture enhances the learning experience, making it more enriching and impactful.

The diversity of experiences and perspectives within my cohort has already proven invaluable, pushing me to think critically and expand my horizons. I anticipate that this dynamic exchange of ideas will further refine my leadership abilities and deepen my understanding of the complexities of the global business landscape.

Throughout my life, equality has been a guiding principle. I was fortunate to grow up in a family where gender disparities and discrimination were non-existent. My mother has been my greatest inspiration.

Her unwavering belief in the importance of recognising each individual's uniqueness has shaped my understanding of leadership. She taught me that every person has something valuable to contribute, and it is our responsibility to create spaces where everyone can thrive.

The Global Women’s Leadership Scholarship

However, as I ventured into the professional world, I quickly realised that many still face significant barriers. This realisation fuelled my desire to effect change, and is why I applied for the Global Women’s Leadership Scholarship as a first step to help pave the way for greater equality in the workplace.

I had the privilege of being interviewed by the Programme Director, Professor Janina Steinmetz, during which I shared my vision for how and what to change in our professional environments. I firmly believe that meaningful change starts at the individual level, and I am committed to being a catalyst for this transformation.

I am filled with gratitude for the remarkable opportunities I am encountering on my journey at Bayes Business School so far. Being awarded the Global Women’s Leadership Scholarship (GWLP) is not just a recognition of my potential, it serves as a catalyst for my vision of fostering an inclusive world where every individual's uniqueness is celebrated.

Future aspirations

As I look forward to the future, my aspirations revolve around creating a meaningful impact in the financial sector. I aim to champion diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. My goal is to be a leader who combines confidence with compassion—one who continuously seeks to learn and grow alongside my team.

I am eager to collaborate on initiatives that promote women's leadership and inspire future generations to break barriers. My journey from Italy to the heights of London’s financial landscape has been one of resilience, growth, and a steadfast commitment to equality. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the chance to make a difference in the lives of others.

Together, I believe we can build a future where every individual, regardless of gender or background, has the opportunity to succeed. Every person deserves an opportunity, and we need more individuals who are willing to provide those opportunities.
