The 2022 International Workshop on Financial System Architecture and Stability (IWFSAS): “Re-Thinking Risk Management During Times of Paradigm Shifts: Implications for Financial Markets and Institutions”.
As the world emerges from a global pandemic and steps into rising political tensions, risk management must address the shifting nature of business volatility. The changes likely to affect risks and their management in the coming years will arise from different contexts: demography and societal changes, the environment, technological innovation, and changes in socioeconomic structures including rising inequalities.
These will reshape the conventional paradigms and create new ones, modify financial institutions vulnerability to risks, transform the channels through which risk spread, and alter government, investors, and corporate responses..
Keynote speakers: Industry Keynote (Dr Alison Scott, Bank of England) and an Academic Keynote (Prof Marcin Kacperczyk, Imperial College).

Food for thought webinar - Do we still need to worry about bank misconduct? 2020
Professor Barbara Casu recently took part in a webinar hosted by Professor Daniel Beunza as part of the Business School Autumn Series of events.
The event focussed on what is conduct risk and how can financial institutions manage it? Banks are keen to argue that misconduct episodes are legacy issues, but there are emerging vulnerabilities which might lead to new problems. Misconduct tends to rise during crises and new technologies, products and competitors continue to concern regulators. This session will review the main types of financial misconduct and what it might mean for banks striving to foster a more ethical culture and regaining customers’ trust.
